Is there a space in the village that SHG women can call their own? How do they get a space of their own for conducting their meetings and holding discussions?
Women of the Mahila Samakhya Karnataka (MSK) collective negotiate with the community and often times the government to get a space for the Sangha Mane (SHG House) and use financial assistance from MSK to build a space of their own.
Through this film the women of Atiguppe speak about the obstacles they encountered from the community and the government in their quest to build their Sangha Mane. The film also has interviews with MSK staff who speak about how and why it is empowering to the SHG members to build and have a space of their own.
